(4 stars for the film, 5 stars for the blu-ray)"Mascara" is an adult/hardcore film from 1983 starring Lisa De Leeuw. It was co-directed by Henri Pachard (who also wrote the script) & Roberta Findlay (dialogue scenes only uncredited). Lisa De Leeuw plays the character of Harriet who lives a repressed existence, working as a secretary in a Manhattan office. After discovering that her boss is secretly seeing a prostitute named Lucy (played by Lee Caroll), Harriet works up the courage to approach her to see if she can help her fulfill her sexual fantasies and overcome her inhibitions. The film was shot over the course of only 5 days but is actually well made & acted overall. The hardcore sex scenes are solid, energetic & well staged featuring a decent mix of straight, lesbian and threesome action. Lisa De Leeuw is breathtakingly beautiful with a highlight being a threesome featuring her and two guys that culminates with a nice display of dual handjob & oral work. "Mascara" runs a taut 83 minutes 25 seconds and while it doesn't do anything special or revelatory, it is still quite solid overall & recommended to fans of the golden age of porn.Vinegar Syndrome brought "Masacara" to blu-ray back in 2019 featuring a new 2K scan & restoration from the original 35mm camera negative. The film is presented on a single layer blu-ray in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio utilizing the AVC codec at a beefy bit rate usually hovering around the mid to upper 30's. The film looks fantastic with perfect contrast & black levels, natural skin tones and terrific detail overall. Film grain is nicely resolved with no apparent digital noise reduction or edge enhancement to be found. Simply put, "Masacara" looks amazing in high definition.Sound on the blu-ray is presented in 1.0 channel English DTS-HD Master Audio. The Movie also sounds great and I didn't notice any hiss or pops at all. The film looks and sounds great while featuring some nice extras as well. Solid acting, energetic sex and a decent plot makes this well worth checking out for fans of early 80's porn.
